Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

Upon arrival at the Entebbe International airport, you will receive a warm welcome to the Pearl of Africa from our professional driver who will take you through the itinerary of the 4 days Lake Mburo and Bwindi Tour. Later transfer you to the magnificent Lake Mburo National Park on the western side of Uganda through the Entebbe-Kampala-Masaka-Lyantonde route.

You will have your first stop at the Uganda Equator for snacks as well as photography at the natural landmark. Arrive the National Park in the afternoon, thereby check-in and freshen-up as well as have lunch at the lodge.
In the afternoon go for a boat cruise at Lake Mburo and then return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning Game drive and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You will wake up very early in the morning at 6:00 am and head for the early morning game drive for chance to see other wildlife species that call Lake Mburo National Park home. The early morning game drives reward you with a better view of the nocturnal wildlife species still hunting as well as the grazers and browsers also going by with their norming activities in the open Savannah.

Some of the wildlife species to expect during the game drives include impalas, zebras, and buffalos among others several outstanding bird species. After the 3-4 hours’ drive, return to the lodge for late breakfast and relaxation as you wait for hot lunch before checking out and transferring to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park through the awe-inspiring rolling hills of Kigezi popularly referred as the “Switzerland of Africa”.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking and Batwa Community Tour.

As early as 6:00 am, you will have a delicious breakfast and with your backpack, packed lunch and drinking water transfer to the Park headquarters for the pre-briefing from the park rangers at 7:00 am. At 8:00 am you will transfer to the trailhead and then hike into the jungles in search of the allocated mountain gorilla group.

The trekking time will depend on where the mountain gorilla family slept the previous night and the pace of your movement. Mountain gorilla trekking is considered physically demanding and associated with panting and sweating but eventually having a face to face encounter with the mountain gorillas is the best wildlife encounter every trekker lives to remember.
You will have opportunities of encountering other wildlife species found in the Park like the black and white colobus monkeys, chimpanzees, buffaloes and elephants. On reaching the mountain gorilla group, you will spend only one-hour taking photographs and observing their human-like behaviors that will blow your mind.

Return back to the lodge for relaxation and lunch and in the evening, visit the Batwa pygmies’ community and interact with these wonderful former forest dwellers.

Day 4: Departure

You will wake up to an early morning breakfast and then transfer to Kigali through the Cyanika border in Kisoro district and after a journey of 4 hours, you will be ushered unto the City of Kigali. Have a brief City Tour and connect to Kigali International Airport for your return flight.

Mountain gorilla trekking guidelines

• Do not trek the gorilla when sick of flue or cough.
• Avoid using flash cameras.
• Avoid making noise during trekking and while in the presence of the mountain gorillas.
• Littering the Park is prohibited because rubbish acts as a breeding ground for germs.
• Trekkers are expected to spend only one hour with the mountain gorillas.
• Tourists have to be above 15 years to trek the mountain gorillas.
• A minimum distance of 7 meters must be maintained when seeing the gorillas.
