Detailed itinerary of your 7 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari

Day 1: Travel from Kampala to Kibale Forest National Park

Leave Kampala/Entebbe after a delicious cup of coffee or tea from your hotel or place of residence. First, your Uganda tour guide will brief you on things you should expect on the 7 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari tour. After, you will be driven through Mityana-Mubende-Fort Portal city about 5 or 6 hours up to Kibale Forest National Park in Kabarole district western Uganda.

En-route, lunch will be served to you in a hotel in Fort Portal city and then you proceed to Kibale while enjoying the best view of tea estates, crater lakes and a lot more. Kibale Forest National Park is a haven to over 13 primates including 1500 chimpanzees, 350 birds, several butterflies, forest elephants, buffaloes to mention but a few. Relax, dine and spend a night at the lodge you booked.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking & Bigodi nature walk

Have a hefty breakfast and after, assemble at Kanyanchu visitor centre for briefing on chimpanzee tracking rules starting at 7:00am. At 8:00am, the park guide assigned to your group takes you on a search for chimpanzees but expect to see other primates, birds, butterflies, reptiles, mammals to mention but a few. Your chimp trek may take about 2-4 hours and once you have spotted chimpanzee community, you will spend only 1 hour face to face with them, take pictures and learn their daily behaviors.

Retreat from your rewarding chimpanzee adventure to have lunch. At 2:00pm, you will connect to Bigodi wetland for an exciting nature walk which involves you spotting more primates, birds like the great blue turacos, other mammals like Sitatunga and others. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your respective lodges.

Day 3: Transfer from Kibale to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Take your breakfast and after, check out then drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park about 3 hours via Fort Portal. Arrive early and enjoy lunch at your lodge. In the afternoon, you will participate in a boat cruise through Kazinga channel and this will reward you with great sight of hippos, crocodiles, water birds as well as elephants, scenic view of Lake Edward and Lake George. Return to have dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 4: Game drive and boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park

Rise up early for morning breakfast and later, you will have a game drive via Kasenyi plains. This will last for 2-3 hours but gets you the best view of elephants, buffaloes, birds, antelopes, warthogs and others. Return to have lunch and later, you will go for a boat trip for the second time via Kazinga channel. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your respective accommodation facility.

Day 5: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early morning breakfast, drive via Ishasha area of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Enjoy the amazing view of tree climbing lions and other wildlife on a quick game drive then proceed to Savanna resort for lunch stop. After, connect to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park to check in at your gorilla tour lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking & Batwa cultural tour

Enjoy your breakfast and after, connect to Bwindi park head offices for briefing on gorilla trekking safety measures. At 8:00am after you have been assigned to park ranger guide and gorilla family, you will hit the jungles on a search for the endangered mountain gorillas. This may take you 2 or 6 hours but it is a rewarding adventure once you spot these apes and spend one hour with them.

Retreat from your long day search for mountain gorillas and in the evening after you have relaxed, visit the Batwa community. While here, expect to enjoy the best dances, music performances Uganda has to offer the world. Dinner and overnight stay will be at your respective gorilla tour lodges.

Day 7: Return to Kampala/Entebbe

Have breakfast and after, check out of the lodge. Your driver guide then will bring you back but you will have lunch stop at Igongo cultural centre and photography at Equator crossing. Get to Kampala/Entebbe late for drop off at your hotel and this will mark the end of your 7 days Uganda gorilla and wildlife safari.
