Day 1: Kigali city tour and drive to Volcanoes National Park

Following your early arrival at Kigali International Airport, get a warm welcome from your safari leader and later, set off for a quick city tour in Kigali. You will visit Kigali genocide site and after, drive to Volcanoes National Park to check in at your desired gorilla lodge.

Day 2: First mountain gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park

Your first gorilla trek will start with breakfast and later, drive to Kinigi park headquarters for briefing on the set gorilla trekking safety measures. Because the length of the trek in unpredictable, don’t forget to come with some packed energy giving snacks and bottled drinking water. You will also be assigned to a group to trek in a group of eight trekkers and Volcanoes National Park is composed of 10 habituated families and they include Bwenge, Kwitonda, Sabyinyo, Susa A, Ugenda, Karisimbi (Susa B), Hirwa, Umubano, Amahoro, 13 Group (Agashya). The park ranger guide will take you through the actual trek starting at 8:00 am and this may cover 2-6 hours which also includes an hour of magical encounter. Retreat from your gorilla trek and rest then visit Twin Lakes-Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo.

Day 3: Second mountain gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park

The second gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park will begin with an early morning breakfast and then you proceed to Kinigi park headquarters for briefing on the safety measures for gorilla trekking. You will be assigned to a different gorilla family to trek today and after, return to relax. Your evening will involve visiting Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for a cultural experience.
